I have a ringworm problem that isn”t going away. My dog has had it since October 15, it is now December 4. I have taken her to the vet twice. Skin scrap was positive for ringworm for 3 patches on her mussle (one right on her lip where she can lick it). Our vet first put her on Cavamox, 2 pills of Program (given 2wks apart), and topical Tresaderm (twice/day). Well, that only improved it alittle, so then we used (topical) Clotrimozole and held her mussle shut for 5-10 minutes (3 times a day). It has gotten better but still not gone. Our vet didn”t give any other advice for getting rid of it finally for good. So..my question is, is there something else I can give her or do that will clear it up quickly? I wonder if I could use human products on her because she can LICK them, or somekind of home remedy? Also, how do I know it is gone, what do I look for? Thank you for your time, it is greatly apreciated!
Very frustrated!!
Dog ringworm quick cures???
Well, it is gone when the hair begins to grow at the edges, and the skin appears clear and normal..If it has seemed to get better, it is likely under coontrol. It can’t appear really normal for some time, as it takes a while for the skin to heal, and the hair to grow..So, your battle might already be won.. Normally it isn’t that hard to get rid of..
usually, applying Lotrimin, for a few days, does the job..
Reply:i would seek a second opinion. ringworm is itchy and since it is on the dogs lip, when the dog nibbles an itch it’ s likely to spread i think if you can get the lip to clear up then the rest may follow.
Reply:1. Try an over the counter treatment for athlete’s foot. Not a spray, use a cream 2 times a day for a week and you should see a major improvement with hair starting to grow back in. If not, then try the other type of cream. Miconazole? And see if that works.
2. Buy a small container of Vaseline-type stuff and mix in Tea Tree Oil (100 drops in a 1/4 cup). Stir well. Apply to affected area 2 times a day. Also use for cuts, scrapes, skin infections, itching, bug bites, ant bites, stings, etc. for animals and humans.
Reply:CLOROX and water works for ringworm. just keep applying the solution and it will go away REMEMBER clorox kills just about anything, even the parvo virus.
